For more than 10 years, I’ve been offering up a bet to professionals at conferences: I’ll buy you a steak dinner if you can get some math concept past an editor and onto the air or in print. I have never once had to pay up. So I made that same bet in class this week, betting my students they couldn’t get Mode (as in Mean, Median and …) into print or on the air.
